On 3.5.8 and a multi-portal installation, there are some items that do not add to the cart, while others do. Those that are unwilling to add to the cart can be added to the cart in other portals.

The skins are the same in all portals, as are the module settings in general.

I'd like to avoid upgrading from 3.5.8 to 3.6.2 to test it since there will be a day of re-customizing the templates.

Have there been any similar failures or do you have any ideas?

See this item in two different portals

main store - https://donsautoparts.com/ford-edsel-parts (click on BO440 - second in the list) it does NOT add to cart
portal store - http://ford.donsautoparts.com/obsolete-edsel-parts (click on BO440 - second in the list) it adds to cart

The ford website isn't on an SSL. Drop the (s) and you'll get the correct page with the same item BO440 acting diferently on portal 4 (now ssl)

The problem isn't the SSL 443 on portal 4 (I believe) because some of the items will add to the cart, and it seems random that others will not - like BO440.

Yes, my point was that I could not see the site. It blocked me because of the certificate. However I've looked again and it's OK now??

It's not adding to the basket because of a JS error on the page:

SCRIPT5009: SCRIPT5009: 'y' is not defined
SCRIPT438: SCRIPT438: Object doesn't support property or method 'easyPieChart'

I've cleared the js error on the piechart. If you click items in the https://donsautoparts.com site you will find that all items add to the cart - BUT - they are added as OUT OF STOCK - when you check for the same item on another portal - it often adds to cart as IN STOCK.

Add a few items in https://donsautoparts.com/lincoln-nos-parts from the first row of listings and you'll see that only 2 of the 4 increment in the minicart - and yet all 4 are in the full cart - but 2 of the 4 are OUT OF STOCK (when they are not)

On the SSL note - only https://donsautoparts.com/ is SSL - but the cart issue has been going on before SSL and remains even when I remove the SSL.

Thanks for your help

OK I had a quick test, it looks like the stock works OK for my cart? Although I don't know what the stock levels are.

However I did notice that the cart merged for both portals. I think this is because of the cart cookie. I think we need to check the cookie name is different on each portal.

I've added an issue: https://github.com/opens...erce/OpenStore/issues/36

As for the problem with the stock. Can you clarify a way to reproduce it please. Each product sould have it's own stock, but the same stock should be used across all portals it appear in. I wonder if the cart cookie is messing this up in some way.

Don only adds items into portal 4 - the https://donsautoparts.com/store

So I think the answer is yes, there is only a single item in the database and the stock quantity is (1) and all those items are being shared to the other portals.

The cart cookie name is different on each portal, so that is not the issue. I'll try and recreate the stock issue if I get time, but the issue might not be creatable in v4.

What are the challenges in upgrading to version 4 on a multi-portal installation? (roughly 26 portal stores)

I remember going from 2-3 required that the portal 0 store on version 2 had to be replaced by a version 3 store on portal 4. The challenge was moving/rebuilding all the pages from portal 0 into portal 4 in addition to building the store and moving the data.

Your thoughts?

It's not as bad as you think. The code base is actually much the same.

https://github.com/opens...n/Readme_NBS_Upgrade.txt

https://github.com/opens...dme_Upgrade_to_4.0.4.txt

But it is a change and with 26 portals I think I would be thinking it's too much work. In fact we have decided not to use multiple portals on DNN for any complex websites like e-commerce, we even go so far as to create each client with their own cloud VPS.

It's not as painful as v2 to v3, the DB is compatible, we have altered module names. Expect to have to change modules (no all module) on each portal.

Yeah - as I thought. The deal is that Don is moving into a retirement home and uses the site as his 'hobby' to keep his mind sharp. His sales have been dropping off - and we figured out why (the items go into the cart as OUT OF STOCK in his main store).

The weird part is that the main store worked fine to our knowledge until about 4 months ago. It seems to be getting worse - or at least we're now aware of how bad it's been.

What do you think it would cost to find the bug and resolve it?

How can I help?

Send me a Private Message and we can arrange to talk about it. Was there any change to his site 4 months ago?
