I want to change the URL of each product to remove 'Detail/catid/71/eid/58' etc. I want the URL to show just the category structure similar to the breadcrumbs. Can this be done by changing one of the templates or do I need to use a URL rewriter?

There is some built-in code with friendly urls turned on (In setting), I think it's to do with using the product ref in the url and it places the product name on the end of the url.

If that does not work you'll need to use the urlrewriter.

https://github.com/nbrig...BrightBuyOpenUrlRewriter

https://github.com/sachatrauwaen/OpenUrlRewriter

I never use this, so test it well. I'm not sure if this is compatible with v4.

I know there are some performance issues on large databases, so don;t use it if you have more than a 1000 products.

P.S. The url will looked better and SEO agencies prefer it, but it doesn't offer better bot SEO. Content is best to improve. There are also SEO image names (In Settings), but that adds a level of processing that is high and I'm unconvinced it's better than the standard alt description.

Hi,
Can i confirm if there are any other updates to the friendly URL re writing?
I have had a look at the 2 referenced re-writers and they are over 2 years old. Are these compatible with dnn 9.x and also the latest version of open store.
Please let me know your recommended solution for friendly url re writing.

Thanks

I always stick with the built in option.

The urlrewriter was for v3, I think. Not much has changed between v3 and v4 apart from the ajax and rename of modules. But I can not say if urlrewriter works on DNN9 and v4. You will need to test it.

I cant see the built in option any longer. the latest version seems to have the setting removed. It used to be in the admin > settings > store configuration area, but i can no longer see it.
Can you confirm where the setting is now?

I've not checked, but I believe the setting was removed becuase it always uses the friendly url option.

These are examples of the category and product urls i am getting:
https://www.partyideasuk...8/baby-shower-party-bags
https://www.partyideasuk...-and-stickers-pink-teddy

Is this what you would expect from the built in url re-writer?

Yes, that would be it. The description name on the end.

OK, i am happy to use these urls however I will need to submit these new urls to Google in a site map. the default DNN site map doesn't include the openstore products and categories! How can I create the site map for the store products?

Well, the UrlRewriter use to do it. But that doesn't help you.

You can try and create the url using SQL on the database or you can write a plugin to get the url.

The easiest plugin to create is this.

https://github.com/opens...Custom-Action-Plugin.pdf

You could output the urls to a file.

or if you prefer SQL look at this:
