I have an old instance of NBStore 2.3.2. It has worked great all of these years. It is now time to upgrade to OpenStore. Is there an upgrade path or will I have to start over?

Any suggestions or recommendations are appreciated.

Well, the upgrade path is migrate to NBSv3 [https://github.com/FabioParigi/NBrightBuyMigrate] , then migrate to OpenStore v4. [https://github.com/openstore-ecommerce/OpenStore/blob/master/Installation/Readme_NBS_Upgrade.txt]

Your best option is to build a new instance.

As for your data, that can be done, but it would involve a migration to v3 then an export and import into v4.

If I wanted to build a new instance, would I simply install OpenStore 4.x? Does installing OpenStore upgrade NBstore or is it considered a different extension?

From NBSv2 it is considered a new install. From NBSv3 it can be upgraded and I have done a couple, but the best option is to start again and then import the data.

See the link it explains that the modules have been rename and also we refactored some things to reduce legacy code to help support in future.

It is more work to rebuild from a blank install, but in my opinion it is the best way to go. And if you're running v2 doing the migrate to v4 would not be an option I would pick. Unless my client required the products and orders in the new system, and for something so awkward I would want to be paid by the hour.
